You Only Have One Shot

With the way modern society is, and the “I want it now” mentality that most people seem to possess these days, an all too popular trend is causing an epidemic among us. It’s no secret to why most people don’t achieve the things they want in life. Whether it be fitness goals, relationships, jobs etc. It’s the mere fact that most are not willing to work their ass off and earn something. They expect it to be handed to them. Society has taught us over the years, to look for the easiest way out.
Notice how many fitness related products use the words “quick and easy”?
This has bred the mindset that things don’t have to be earned. Things don’t have to be hard. They should be “quick and easy”.
Bullshit.
You want to get bigger and stronger? Add some fucking weight to the bar and squat. You want to get ripped? Diet hard for 12-16 weeks and you will be pretty damn lean. Want to get faster? Start sprinting.
Is any of this easy? Hell no. But the recipe is simple. The basics have always been here right in front of your face. And they have been here forever. You have to work… HARD.
Nothing should be looked at as easy. And you shouldn’t expect the results you want overnight. But progress should be expected, over weeks, months and years.
That is unfortunately another HUGE problem. People expect to look like The Rock in 2 weeks. Or be rich in 30 days.
That ain’t gonna happen.
It takes time and it takes effort. Real, natural muscle and strength take time to develop. Success takes constant work day in and day out. Consistency is key, but unfortunately most people will give up before they even get a chance to see their own potential.
It doesn’t matter if you are a world class athlete or the average joe that wants to look great. The work still has to be put in.
The same goes if you already made it to the top.
Look at guys like Jerry Rice and Ray Lewis who were known to be the hardest workers of their craft. These guys obviously had God-given talent, but neither man ever settled for just being good. They wanted to be the greatest ever. And you can certainly give a lot of credit to their unrelenting work ethic that they were.

And the same goes for anyone who wants to achieve ANY goal.
Let’s look at fitness for example. The people that achieve the success they want, walk into the gym, focused and pissed off. They are ready to train. Not coast through a workout. They have their meals prepared so they don’t have any excuse to stop for pizza because they were hungry. I never hear any bullshit from these people when I’m training them. They do exactly what I tell them to and eat exactly what I expect them to. No questions asked and never any chance that they would quit on a workout. These people cannot be broken and are usually the most successful people outside the gym as well. Because they are willing to do whatever the fuck it takes to be great. It’s also no coincidence that these are usually the happiest people also.
And I truly believe that those are the two choices you have. You can settle for a life of mediocrity and go through the motions. Or, you will live a life of passion and strive to be the greatest YOU that YOU can be.
You can be the type of person who settles for a life you don’t want because of fear, or you will work to overcome fear and live the life you are truly capable of.
If you haven’t picked up on it yet, the thing linking this all together is hard work. It means never settling for anything less than what you can actually accomplish. Most people will use the excuse that there is not enough time to do the things they want instead of waking up an hour or two earlier to get it done.
The truth is, there is always time to do what you want. You just have to be willing to MAKE THE TIME.

Triple H has three kids and runs a billion dollar industry. But does that stop him from training? Hell no. That SOB trains at midnight and runs on 4 hours of sleep just to get it done! That guy has tons of cash, a hell of a lot of stress and a family to worry about, but he MAKES THE TIME.
My point is, if there is something you want in life, fitness, a career, fulfillment, etc. Do what is necessary to make it happen. Like Steve Jobbs said “If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I’m about to do today.” Take a second to really think about that. Because if the answer is no too often it is time to start considering other options.
All I know is that when it’s all said and done, I don’t want to take any regrets with me. I want to chase my passion and truly live a life of fulfillment. And I hope this inspires all of you to do the same. Find the time to get what you truly want in life.
Shit, we only get one shot at it…
