New Yu Academy, Inc.

New Yu Academy, Inc. will open as Christian Jr. High and High School during the Fall of 2014.  NYA will provide the youth of East St. Louis with a faith-based alternative to receiving a secondary education. New Yu Academy, Inc. will start with 7th, 8th, and 9th grade and add an additional grade each year. Thus, the first classes will graduate during the 2017-18 school year. Families who choose to enroll their child(ren) in NYA will pay an tuition based on their income. Fundraisers, donations, and grants will be used for scholarships and operational cost.

New Yu Academy will provide an effective and complete approach to educating youth and building their character: Spiritually, Academically, and Socially.

 

Vision

Spiritually, every graduate of New Yu Academy will accept and know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and will be equipped to lead others to salvation. Academically, every graduate at New Yu Academy will be prepared for post-secondary education and training. Socially, every graduate of New Yu Academy will have the necessary tools  to develop positive relationships, coping strategies, and life skills.

Philosophy Of Education

We believe that God is the creator of the universe. We believe in the trinity; God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God sent His perfect and only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins. Therefore, salvation is a gift and cannot be earned. As Christians, we are to live by the Word of God, and be directed by the Holy Spirit.

 

We believe all youth are blessings from God. God has a plan for them which consist of hope, prosperity, and future. All youth have the ability to learn and should be taught not only academically, but spiritually as well. God has given us the privilege of teaching youth the way they should go. Every youth is individually crafted by God; therefore they all have individual needs and styles of learning. It is also our duty to train youth on building positive relationship of love and service. 
 

We believe parents are the experts as it relates to their children. Parental involvement is one of the most valuable assets in student achievement. Parents have the right to advocate for their children’s learning needs and should be encouraged to participate in their academics. Parents are valued and well respected.

Imagine a student who spends most of his day in an environment that is Christ-centered. The student dances into the school building as Christian music is heard from the cafeteria.  The student's surroundings are bright, clean, and full of school colors and pride. The student is greeted with love, as everyone rejoices about the day. The daily devotional causes the student to yearn for more of God and sparks a desire to tell others about His goodness. Throughout the day, the academics are engaging, innovative, and tailored to fit the student’s needs. Teachers speak words of life and encourage the student to succeed.
